The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) is the leading lobbying organisation for UK business.
We are committed to addressing the challenge of climate change and in 2007 produced the influential report Climate change: everyone's business.
The report was a call to action for business, government and consumers to work together to enable the UK to meet its climate change targets.
Why does the CBI think it is important to increase engagement with climate change?
Consumers have an impact on 60% of the UK's emissions and are an essential driver for change. Consumers need to know the facts about climate change. They are sometimes unaware of how they can make a positive contribution to reducing emissions and how they can save money on energy and fuel in the process.
Consumers need much wider access to low-carbon products and services. They also need to have confidence in the information they are given about the environmental impact of different products and services.
Companies are working hard to develop these products and services and to communicate their low carbon credentials clearly to consumers.
If consumers are persuaded of the advantages of low carbon products and services, this increased demand will encourage companies to develop a wider range, creating a virtuous circle in which business, consumers and the environment all benefit.
This website is part of the CBI's work to make this happen.
